Choosing Between a Sedan or an SUV

Everything You Need to Know to Choose Between a Toyota Camry and a Toyota Highlander

So you’re getting ready to buy a car. We know the struggle. Choosing between a sedan and an SUV is an age-old struggle that car owners have.

Toyota has so many great types of cars that it can be tough to pick the right one. The Highlander is a beautiful car, and so is the Camry. So how do you choose?

Each type of car has its own pros and cons. Weigh the options carefully before making your final decision.

The PROS
There are several pros to purchasing both types of cars, so it’s important to think carefully about what your needs are before you make your purchase.

Buying a Sedan
One of the main reasons why you might want to buy a Toyota Camry instead of a Toyota Highlander is for fuel efficiency.

Toyota Camrys are very fuel efficient and have a much better mile per gallon ration that SUVs do. With gas prices rising in today’s fuel economy, this makes it a very appealing option.

If you go on a lot of long distance trips, a sedan might be a better choice for you.

Another reason Toyota Camrys are a great choice is that they offer secure cargo space in the trunks of their cars. If you are transporting valuables over a long distance, a sedan is a great option.

Finally, as a general rule, Toyota Camrys are much cheaper than Highlanders. If you are trying to find a budget-friendly car, choosing a sedan might be the right option for you.

Buying an SUV
So you know what makes a Camry a great choice, but what about a Highlander?

Highlanders have their own properties that make them a good car.

Highlanders have a lot of trunk space, so if you have a big family or need to keep a lot of gear in your car, this is a great option.

Highlanders are also great for towing. If you have a camper or a boat trailer you need to tow, you won’t get very far with a Toyota Camry! Choose a Highlander to make sure you can transport everything you need to.

Finally, Highlanders are great for off-roading. If you like to head to rough and rugged terrain, the Highlander will get you there in a breeze.

The CONS
While each type of car has its benefits, there are also some downsides. Make sure you understand the disadvantages as well as the benefits.
The Downsides of a Camry
One of the major downsides of a Toyota Camry is that sedans are notoriously easier to break into.

It’s much trickier to break into a Highlander than it is to hijack a sedan. Keep this in mind when choosing to store valuables in your car.

Sedans are also not outfitted with heavy equipment the way a Highlander is. The Toyota Camry is a great choice for city driving, but wouldn’t help you out if you needed to go off-roading.

Camrys also have fewer safety features than Highlanders do. SUVs are typically built to withstand high impact due to their alloy wheels and blind spot monitor. Camrys, on the other hand, are more likely to have safety issues.

The Problems with a Highlander
While there are some great perks to driving a Highlander, there are also a few downsides too.

Highlanders, while having more space than a Toyota Camry, are much less fuel efficient. If you have a long drive ahead of you the fuel prices could end up costing you a small fortune.

Highlanders also tend to be less comfortable than the Camry. Sedans are made with comfort in mind, but SUVs are a little more about style. Highlanders don’t always have the leather seats that sedans do.

For longer car rides, you may find yourself more comfortable riding in a Camry.

Despite the pros and cons of both cars, the Highlander and the Camry are great choices if you’re looking to buy a new car. Make the right decision and lease one today!
