Leasing the Lexus IS 200t
Looking for a powerful luxury car but don’t have the wallet size? Your best bet is probably the newest Lexus IS! The IS (or Intelligent Sports) series provides a solid balance of performance, comfort, and convenience. With its debut in 1999, the IS series is now in its third generation. The “t” in IS 200t designates “turbo” and highlights the powerful 8-speed 2-L engine. While you might start with the base IS 200t, but you could also opt for the upgraded IS 300 and 350. Lexus also offers F-Sports editions that pack more engine power and a stylish appeal. The IS 200t only has one trim, the sedan.
Why Should You Lease a 2017 Lexus IS 200t?
Leasing a car means you pay monthly for a set number of miles on the vehicles. At the end of the contract, you don’t own the vehicle, but usually, you can choose to buy it. Many people decide to lease a car when they need a quick ride yet cannot afford the full price of purchasing it. Depending on your situation, you might want to lease the Lexus IS 200t to thoroughly test the features before committing to buying it from the dealer.
You should be aware that there are some drawbacks to leasing. For example, plans usually have a strict policy on mileage limits, authorized drivers, and vehicle upkeep. Since you don’t own the vehicle, you don’t have as much freedom to customize or upgrade it.
Now let’s dissect the benefits of the Lexus IS 200t:
Interior
The IS class is a luxury sports compact series, meaning it offers a blend of comfort and performance capabilities. It doesn’t excel at either, but, instead, offers the best of both worlds at a more than affordable price.
That being said, critics agree: the interior features are the most stunning aspect of the IS200t. A pleasant change for 2017 comes with the larger 10.3-inch entertainment and navigation screen with Lexus’ signature remote touch interface (RTI). This control system is similar to a joystick and may seem oversensitive and clunky. With some practice, you’ll get used to it! Otherwise, most of the apps from Enform Suite program use Bluetooth voice recognition software. You can quickly switch radio stations, respond to text messages, and even buy movie tickets just using designated voice commands in the cabin! The Navigation Package includes both features for an extra $1,735.
Another key feature is the Lexus Enform Remote app connectivity, allowing you to control doors windows, and even engine from the convenience of your smartphone. Lexus offers a 1-year complimentary service for this program.
2017 IS models are all heavier and provide less interior space than competitors, but the F Sports does enhance the seating and overall aesthetics. As a standard, the F Sports design offers both heating and ventilated seats with a synthetic leather NuLuxe material. Lexus generously provides a 10-way adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar and 8-way adjustable passenger seats. Standard on the F Sports is also their state-of-the-art climate control system, allowing for individualized airflow throughout the cabin. You can also choose to upgrade to a heated steering wheel for those cold winter drives!
With the Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound Audio System Package, you can upgrade the standard 10-speakers to a 15-speaker system to blast all your tunes in the best quality possible! Although, it comes at a steep price of $2,835.
In all, the IS 200t gives you a quiet ride with many advanced comfort amenities.
Performance
For a luxury car, you’re fortunate to get a powerful 4-inline engine. The base IS 200t comes with a 2-liter, while the others include V6 3 and 3.5-liters. For its size, the 200t still packs a punch and is capable of flying from 0-60 in 6.8 seconds (6.5 in the F Sports) with 241 horsepower. It has a combined 26 highway/city mpg. Although the 200t features rear wheel drive, the 350t includes standard all-wheel drive capabilities. It brakes from 60 mph in about 117 feet, slightly below average among competitors. However, the automatic 8-speed transmission allows for great versatility in your driving experience!
Admittedly, the F Sports edition is mostly a cosmetic upgrade and doesn’t significantly increase general performance. Still, it does include standard three dynamic driving modes: Sport, ECO, and normal.
Safety
Lexus has spared no expense in ensuring driver safety with the IS 200t with its impressive 10 airbag system as standard.
Included in the standard model are LED headlights (and taillights on the F Sports) for optimal vision. The vehicle features collision warning systems, lane departure warning, and emergency crash notifications. Also included with the remote app controls are anti-theft features, such as GPS tracking and police notifications.
The Premium Package includes a rearview camera display with dynamic gridlines.
The Luxury Package allows for electrochromic mirrors, meaning they will automatically dim to reduce glare from the bright lights behind you. Also included is an innovative parking assist program that uses audible and visual alerts to guide you in parallel parking. With this addition, you can also drive with confidence with blind spot monitoring and cross lane assist alerts.
